When Dr. Tovar was 9 years old, her sister was born autistic and with a severe brain paralysis. This encouraged her to think of health conditions at a very early age and what to do in order for wellness to prevail. It helped her value life and human relationships, to listen and understand the silent signals of human necessities, and to understand a person’s fear of the unknown. She received very precise lessons on how, using physical manipulations, adjustments and massages applied to her sister, which helped to improve her physical condition. One of the early accomplishments was helping her sister learn to walk when she was 3 years old. Homeopathic treatments helped her to overcome multiple convulsive crises, giving Dr. Tovar the opportunity to witness the effectiveness of another kind of medicine.
After several years, these experiences reaffirmed Dr. Tovar’s decision to pursue medicine.
In 1990, she worked as an assistant in an Integrative Medicine Institution, Athanor, in Chacao Caracas where Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Chiropractic, Colonics, Neural Therapy, Chelation’s and Ozone therapy were the common practice. One of her functions was to prepare homeopathic formulas, giving her the opportunity to learn all these modalities and being exposed to other Doctor/Patient relationship focuses. This experience, compounded with her knowledge using homeopathic treatments, motivated her to pursue her Medical degree.
